Treeview controls are used to display tree structures, such as subdirectories or any other data that are hierarchical in nature. If you like, they also allow you to edit an item in place by selecting it, pausing, and then left clicking it again.
The example below shows the treeview we use in GUI ScreenIO to show you how a menu is organized. Notice the root is File, and Open, Close, and Exit are branches at a level beneath File.
